well if you call up or go to the Tourists Bureau they can find some good hotels for cheap. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay for $65 a night. You can tell them what you prefer to spend a night on a hotel and they will search for you

We go to Vegas in March every year, and we are in the process of planning our trip this year. We always stay at Excalibur, but I like to entertain the idea of other hotels just in case. In my experience, the best way to find good hotel rates in a decent hotel is sign up for their email. For example, right now, Excalibur has their rates listed on their site as $81 night for the nights I am planning on staying there, but every year they send me an email for special March rates of $50 or less. I have also gotten some good rates on Luxor and Mandalay Bay in my email just for signing up for promotional offers. I don’t trust the travel sites rates, because most of the hotels will guarantee their rates as the best rates, and will refund any difference you find. Also looking on ebay for promotional specials that others may have received for Las Vegas might work. I think I saw one last year for a free night at the Orleans. Luckily, Vegas has rates from $30 a night up to $tons of money a night. It just depends on your budget and which hotels you want to stay in. Good Luck!

I think that a good way would be calling the hotels directly they can do more in the way of mulitple room discounts. Also the travel sites are a good place to start, however, double check where the hotel is because sometimes they are in a not so nice area of town.

If you gamble a significant amount, say 1K a day, and belong to the players club (get a rating) you can earn a discount on the cost of the room. But otherwise you are at the whim of the time of year, etc.

The best rates are Monday thru Thursday and not a holiday. Prices on The Strip vary but the best rates are Circus Circus, Sahara, Tropicana and Imperial Palace. The highest are Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian and Mirage. But there are close casinos where locals enjoy gambling and the rates are great (and you can join the players club online) like Orleans, South Point, and Gold Coast. They give more comps (freebies) that any Strip Hotel for less gambling.

On the Strip you get one point for every $15 or more you play per hand, at a rate of at least six hands per minutes. While at the local casinos, the rate is way less. At a local casino you get points for any denomination in a machine but on the Strip you have to play at least quarters. Get the picture.

I suggest you go to http://www.lasvegasnow.com which is a local TV station with links where you can find the best rates and shows, etc. Otherwise try http://www.lasvegas.com OR http://www.vegas.com but not those advertised on TV all the time like priceline and hotels.com

And as to the question, yes they want you to stay, eat and gamble at one property but no longer with corporations owning most of the Strip casino hotels do you find those discounted rates.

March is difficult because of the Final four and Nascar.
Pick up your local sunday newspaper travel section and look for the vegas gamblers junkets
